For their upcoming festival, from September 12-16, 2017, SAND Festival is looking for performances from all over the world. SAND is a yearly international festival of performing arts for a young audience, that takes place in Norway. In 2017, the 13th festival takes place in Kristiansand with Kilden Theatre and Concert Hall as the main venue.
One of the festival’s goals is to foster the creation and sharing of knowledge, skills and experiences, thus contributing to bringing performing arts for young people forward. The festival always has a central topic, which translates to both the artistic programme and a series of professional seminars.
The working title for the festival in 2017 is «ON THE RUN», and the starting point is the refugee disaster that we’ve witnessed in recent years, and the huge implications this has had for both individuals and society as a whole. We also want to investigate being on the run in a broader sense, bringing forward issues such as migration, identity and embracing new voices and stories.
Do you have a performance that relates to this theme? Send in your submission by filling out this form. You’ll need to argue in 200 words in what way the performance relates to the theme in 2017, and why it should be presented for a young audience, in addition to the other criteria in the form.
Only submissions from performing art professionals will be considered.
Deadline for submissions is November 1, 2016.
