FR – Le Theater De Spiegel d’Anvers et le Théâtre de la Guimbarde de Charleroi sont bien connus sur la scène internationale pour leurs productions destinées aux tout-petits. Ensemble, ils proposent un atelier pour inspirer une nouvelle génération d’artistes professionnels. Tout metteur en scène, acteur, danseur, marionnettiste… intéressé par la création pour enfants de 0 à 4 ans est le bienvenu. L’atelier sera encadré par Karel Van Ransbeeck, directeur artistique de De Spiegel et Carlos Laredo, artiste associé de Théâtre de la Guimbarde.
EN – Theatre De Spiegel from Antwerp and Théâtre de la Guimbarde from Charleroi are internationally known for their productions for the youngest. Together they offer a workshop on 12 and 13 November 2019 to inspire a new generation of professional artists. Makers, actors, dancers, puppeteers … interested in creation for children between 0 and 4 years are welcome. The workshop will be given by Karel Van Ransbeeck, artistic director of Theater De Spiegel and Carlos Laredo, associated artist of La Guimbarde.

FR – Dans la même optique que D. W. Winnicott (Playing and Reality), nous sommes convaincus qu’un enfant est capable de s’intéresser à quelque chose qui est indépendant de sa personne et de forger ainsi une identité propre en dehors de sa relation à son parent ou à d’autres personnes prenant soin de lui. Découvrir des objets et se les approprier en jouant a un effet favorable sur les aptitudes à la communication et aide à surmonter l’anxiété de se retrouver seul.
Tout cela est particulièrement important dans le contexte international actuel, certains enfants grandissant dans des circonstances très difficiles, le plus souvent non accompagnés, sans parents ni foyer stable. D’autres doivent faire face dès la naissance à une attention fragmentée et à des situations complexes au niveau de la communication. Le besoin d’écoute est de plus en plus pressant.
En compagnie d’artistes, de musiciens, de danseurs et de compositeurs, nous examinons comment notre expression artistique et les objets peuvent être déterminants dans la communication avec ce public très particulier. Il s’agit d’une méthode de recherche naturelle et directe, au travers du jeu collectif avec des objets, des formes, des sons, des mouvements corporels, les caractéristiques acoustiques d’un espace, etc. En manipulant ces paramètres, nous mettons l’accent sur les rapports affectifs, indépendants du langage, entre toutes les parties concernées : l’interprète, le spectateur et l’observateur.
L’atelier se compose des éléments suivants :
- Le visionnement d’extraits enregistrés de spectacles/environnements de jeu de Theater De Spiegel (CABAN et LABOTANIK) + une introduction interactive au processus de création.
- Des exercices de manipulation d’objets (sonores et autres) et du propre instrument ou du corps des artistes, afin d’en arriver à un mode de communication purement artistique et musical avec les tout-petits et leurs accompagnants.
- L’exploration de l’influence de l’espace environnant sur le spectacle et sur le public. Quelle est la meilleure manière de se positionner en tant qu’interprète ou de placer le public ? Comment les caractéristiques acoustiques de l’espace et de diverses matières peuvent-elles être associées ?
EN – We share D. W. Winnicott’s vision (Playing and Reality) and are equally convinced of a child’s ability of taking an interest in something that is independent of his or her person and thus forging his or her own identity outside of the relationship with his or her parent or other carers.
Discovering and appropriating objects through play has a positive effect on communication skills and helps to overcome the anxiety of being alone. All this is particularly important in the current international context, with some children growing up in very difficult circumstances, often unaccompanied, without parents or stable homes. Others face fragmented attention and complex communication situations from birth. The need to listen is more and more pressing.
In the company of artists, musicians, dancers and composers, we examine how our artistic expression and objects can be decisive in communicating with this very particular audience. It is a natural and direct research method, through collective play with objects, shapes, sounds, body movements, the acoustic characteristics of a space, etc. By manipulating these parameters, we emphasize the emotional relationships, independent of language, between all parties involved: the performer, the spectator and the observer.
The workshop consists of the following elements:
- Viewing recorded excerpts from shows/game environments by Theater De Spiegel (CABAN and LABOTANIK) + an interactive introduction to the creative process.
- Exercises in manipulating objects (sound and others) and the artists’ own instruments or bodies, in order to achieve a purely artistic and musical mode of communication with toddlers and their carers.
- Exploring the influence of the surrounding space on the show and the audience. What is the best way to position yourself as an interpreter or to place the audience? How can the acoustic characteristics of space and various materials be combined?
